Using the hammer, pound the balls from the top, then watch and listen as the colourful balls descend down the rainbow track.
The Pound A Ball grows with you child. Below in the natural progression of learning we have witnessed in our own home:
- Acquiring the strength and coordination to pound the balls down.
- Primary colour learning.
- Language learning. E.g. Top, bottom, down, hit, ball, again and hammer.
- Following instructions. E.g. “Hit the blue ball.”
- Developing working memory with two or three step instructions. E.g.“Hit the blue ball down first, then the yellow ball.”
- Exploring musical terms.
When exploring musical terms, we like these ones:
- piano: soft
- forte: loud
- crescendo: a gradual increase in loudness.
Other reasons we love the pound a ball:
- Self-regulation. Sometime children want to bang and hit things and this is an appropriate outlet for that need.
- It promotes turn taking with clear expectations. We hit the three balls then we pass the hammer on.
- Children work on their hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills and visual perception all while delighting the sensors.
